- fat hen: a global weed found in old and new worlds since prehistoric times. The leaves of this annual have a mild but pleasant flavour. Use leaves and tender stems in tacos or rolled tortillas.
- french bean
- purslane: an annual with succulent leaves that can be cooked as greens. Of old world origin.
- chard (beta vulgaris): strongly flavoured green that can be stewed or cooked in soups.
