Hyssop

Hyssopus officinalis is a perennial herbaceous shrub rated as ‘hardy evergreen.’  Which means it keeps its leaves through the otherwise dormant winter months.

Hyssop can add wonderful flavour to soups and has a strong flavour so only a little is needed.

The plant has attractive blue flowers and has the advantage of helping to deter cabbage white butterfly.

Plant in full sun in a well-draining location.  They can also be grown in pots and tubs.  Water well before and immediately after planting.  You can use a plant feed fortnightly through the growing season.

Hyssop flowers from early summer to early autumn.
