Pruning

There’s the ‘Chelsea Chop.’  And there’s the ‘Hampton Hack.’

These pruning terms relate to the calendar of British horticultural fairs and festivals.

Chelsea takes place in May and refers to an early spring pruning.

The Hampton Court Flower Show takes place in early July.  Giving your salvias a ‘Hampton hack’ in early July will ensure the plants remain busy and full of flower providing a colour display in your garden well into autumn.
