Verbena bonariensis are hardy perennials that stand tall and slim and bear tall pom-poms of purple blooms. The flowers are wildly attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinators, with flowering plants kept buzzing with life throughout their blooming period which can extend from July all the way to October.
Because the plant itself is so slight – think tall wiry stem that seem to defy gravity – it is recommended to plant them among other perennials, where they can add height and benefit from the cover of lowering growing plants.
Verbena bonariensis can grow up to 4 feet high and should be spaced just over a foot apart.
